Working Things for Good—God’s Master Plan
Scripture: Romans 8:28
Key Insight: All things work together for those who love God.
Introduction:
Have you ever watched a complicated recipe come together and thought, “There’s no way that’ll taste good”? But somehow, all those weird ingredients work together beautifully. That’s Romans 8:28 for your life: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (ESV). Even the “bitter” moments have their place in God’s master plan.
Reflection:
This verse doesn’t say all things are good—it says they work together for good. Big difference! The disappointments, detours, and difficulties in life aren’t random. God uses every piece of your story to create something beautiful.
Think of your life as a puzzle. Some pieces don’t make sense on their own, but when God puts them together, the picture becomes clear. Trust Him to handle the pieces you don’t understand yet.
What Does REAP Mean?
Piecing it together:
- Reflect: How does this verse encourage you about past or current struggles?
- Examine: What does it mean to be called according to God’s purpose?
- Apply: Where do you need to trust God to “work things together” in your life?
- Pray: Ask God to help you see His hand in all circumstances.
To Do Next: Reflect on a difficult situation you’ve faced. Journal about how God has used it for good, or pray for clarity if you’re still waiting to see the outcome.
Reflective Questions:
- When has God turned a tough situation into something good?
- How does this verse encourage you to trust God in the hard times?
Devotional Questions:
- What’s one area where you need to surrender control to God?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for working all things together for good, even when I can’t see it. Help me to trust Your plan and surrender my worries to You. Teach me to wait with hope, knowing You’re always at work. Amen.
