The Battle Book
Building a Battle Book for Those Left Behind
Ever come across an idea so good it stops you in your tracks, makes you pause mid-coffee sip, and say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” That was me when I first heard about leaving a letter for loved ones to find after the Rapture. Brilliant, right? Imagine offering some hope and direction during the most chaotic time imaginable.
But then my overthinking brain kicked into gear: “A letter? Just one? Oh no, we need more than that. What about answers? What about faith? What about rubber-meets-the-road survival guidance for people new to the faith, who may have just realized, ‘Uh-oh, this Jesus thing was real.’”
That’s when it hit me: What if I created something more? Enter the concept of a Battle Book—a journal-meets-handbook designed to help those facing the unimaginable during the Tribulation.
Now, I’d love to tell you I came up with this purely out of altruism, but the truth is, I figured I’d be more motivated to journal faithfully if I imagined it as a lifeline for someone in the future. (Accountability, folks!) So, I’ve rolled up my sleeves, started studying like a person preparing for finals in the School of Eternity, and begun compiling insights, resources, and faith-building tools to fill this book.
The idea is simple: What if someone stumbles across this Battle Book and finds answers, encouragement, or a roadmap to faith? What if, by God’s grace, they’re rescued before it’s too late? After all, “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17, ESV). If there’s a chance this book can help them find Jesus, it’s worth every ounce of effort.
I’m still working on what to include—it’s definitely a work in progress—but here’s what I envision:
- Key Scriptures: Think of it as a survival kit of Bible verses—hope, salvation, and even the tough-love truths that can spark repentance.
- Word Studies: Breaking down biblical terms like “grace,” “salvation,” and “tribulation” into bite-sized, easy-to-digest nuggets.
- Faith Nuggets: Tips on how to pray, start worshipping, or even find peace in chaos.
- Encouragement: Stories of hope and victory from Scripture to remind them that God’s power doesn’t run out just because times are dark.
- Notes: From YouTubers, I trust to impart great information on Faith and related topics that might not be available to them at that time
- The Bible Project: I just love their graphics on the books of the Bible. As I make my way through them, I am printing them out for the book to include it.
- Prayers: A lot of new believers don't know how to pray or the most effective way. I am adding some different prayers in here to help give them some structure to start with.
And hey, this doesn’t have to be one-size-fits-all. My Battle Book is reflecting my faith journey—yours could reflect yours. Add doodles, quotes, or a section on how to avoid eating the creepy locusts mentioned in Revelation (kidding… kind of).
Ultimately, the goal is simple: to offer a lifeline. To create something that reminds someone, in their darkest hour, that Jesus is the Light they need to find.
So if you’re like me and feel inspired to start your own Battle Book, I’ll be sharing tips, topics, and word studies you can include in future posts. Together, we can create something kind and powerful for those who need it most.
Because at the end of the day, isn’t that what we’re called to do? Plant seeds, share the Word, and trust that God will take care of the harvest.
What do you think? Are you ready to start building your Battle Book?
