Scripture: James 1:5

Key Insight: God grants wisdom to those who seek it sincerely.

Introduction:

Let’s be real—how many times have you googled something today? Directions? A recipe? Maybe even “How to deal with difficult people” (no judgment). But guess what? God is the ultimate search engine for wisdom. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (ESV). That’s better than any pop-up advice from the internet!

Reflection:

Life is full of curveballs—whether you’re deciding what career path to take or simply figuring out what to make for dinner. The good news? You don’t have to wing it alone. God’s wisdom is like that really wise grandparent who always knows what to say but way better—because He’s perfect and loves you unconditionally.

What Does REAP Mean?

Before you start picturing yourself harvesting wheat, REAP is a method to get more out of your Bible reading:

  • Reflect: What’s the verse saying? How does it hit you?
  • Examine: Dig a little deeper. What’s going on in the context of this passage?
  • Apply: Ask yourself, “What does this mean for my life right now?”
  • Pray: Use the verse as your talking point with God. Ask Him to make it stick.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being a generous source of wisdom, ready to guide me whenever I seek You. I confess the times I’ve relied on my own understanding instead of turning to You first. Please grant me your wisdom today, especially in areas where I feel uncertain. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your generous provision and align my actions with Your will. Empower me, Holy Spirit, to reflect God’s wisdom in my decisions and interactions. Amen.
